At the Battle of Waterloo the British artillery had the opportunity to fire directly at Napoleon Bonaparte, but the action was stopped by the Duke of Wellington. “No, no; I won’t have it. It is not the business of commanders to be firing upon one another”.

Now, of course, we have a bomb-first-think-later mentality.

Or perhaps we have no mentality at all.

@willie1foot This was, of course, because it was only the gentlemen who mattered.

This is why the modern equivalent are allowed to outsource their leadership.
