Wayland set the Linux Desktop back by 10 years

people may remember 'Y' from many years ago, AFAIK it was suppose to replace X, but never got to the point were Wayland is now.

And this is my biggest issue with Wayland. If it started out with portability in mind maybe I would give it a try. But I an sticking with X because it is fully usable on the BSDs.
