Wait, is the Cornell box actually... a pun?

For those not familiar, a "Cornell box" is one two things: A test simple test scene for computer graphics systems using the inside of a box, or an art piece by Joseph Cornell, who made collage art of found objects inside boxes. You'd think the former would be named after the latter, but actually, they tend to look nothing at all alike? So what gives?

Turns out the "Cornell" in the former is for Cornell University, where the original research using this scene was carried out.

Coincidence? Pun?
