#TurboTax, NO.

@rasterweb if it’s an audio app that I want to connect to speakers yes. Most anything else no.
@fistfulofdave I guess my home network lacks any sort of “smart” devices that would make it useful.
@rasterweb I've heard this one before. Fine, do your best, but if I give you my wifi password and you give me blankets and axe heads that doesn't mean you own my laptop.
@rasterweb it’s a very useful feature whose access request dialogue is really badly worded, and as such puts a lot of people off enabling it
@WiteWulf What amazing features does it enable?

@rasterweb stuff like allowing streaming apps to discover TVs and speakers on the network, other apps can find the file server I have, apps can query my router for internet bandwidth, etc.

It's basically a requester to allow protocols like Bonjour, mDNS, DLNA et al to work.

@fistfulofdave mentioned similar: it's most useful for casting/streaming to speakers

@WiteWulf Do you have examples of how you’ve used it?
@rasterweb is there ever a time when yes is a sensible answer to this question?
@3janeTA “Yes” isn’t even an option! 😜
@rasterweb I mean I assume “discover other devices” is bad because why does whatever app need that? And I don’t know when letting something discover other devices Would make sense. Seems like always No
@3janeTA I think two people in the thread has some suggestions… “smart” speakers and what not.
