For the ten teams still on the Iditarod trail, brutal conditions Thursday across the Tokpok Hills between the White Mountain and Safety checkpoints. The NRCS Johnson Camp SNOTel showing winds 25 to 45 mph and temperatures colder than -20F. No doubt with ground blizzard conditions. #akwx #Iditarod @Jdnome @Climatologist49

@AlaskaWx @Climatologist49 they were smart to wait a bit, though the last guy made it thru. In my mushing days, got through some intense blows there, but never got knocked off my sled like he said.
