And another reason why Python packaging needs to gets fixed upstream. You can't have the languages package management be treated as a thing to be implemented by third parties.

Astral to join OpenAI

Astral has entered into an agreement to join OpenAI as part of the Codex team.

@timonsku there's no resources to do that... and the resources that do exist to fund PyPI and such are also paid for by openai
@timonsku like, i'm a sponsoring member of PSF, they did improve things in the last few years (which is why i am one), but it's clear they're stretched very thin and don't have the resources of a shiny startup
@whitequark hm, maybe I missed out on those efforts then. I only seen many failed proposal, maybe I need to dig deeper again to see what has been happening.
@timonsku i mean, we're no longer stuck using setuptools, that's a really big effort over the years that you shouldn't ignore
