Arch Linux for 32-bit CPU, and Rockstar Games, deny access to their web sites and services in Brazil due to "age verification" law that came into effect.

"We don't have the resources to deal with your legal environment. Sorry."

Expect the same when California comes into effect later, and for any other region that follows suit.

@progo we can only hope .. I saw that agelesslinux dot com website is kaput.. wonder the story there.. it was a NASA IT tech that apparently made the site
@Pendragon wow! That was a flash in the pan!
@progo turns out the website is not gone afterall, it's just not found by my VPN for some reason, which I suppose makes a lot more sense

@Pendragon yeah, I hope this "well, bye!" attitude catches on enough to make an impression. Similar thing played out for PornHub and some of their friends, starting a few years ago.

Paraphrasing: "We can't do business in the way your laws demand, so we're opting out." Basically, they can't effectively lock kids out of unpaid access, and they refuse to rescind unpaid anonymous access to the site for adults.

All the states Pornhub is blocked in as of February 2026

Age-verification laws have spread throughout the U.S. in the last few years.

@Pendragon IMO there's no centralized systematic way to protect kids from PornHub and Linux without harming everyone else's freedom.

The responsibility is in the hands of the kids themselves, and their caretakers.

@progo Yep.. it's a parent-child issue .. not a government issue
