Todd Howard says the only thing wrong with paid mods for Skyrim and Fallout is that people don't buy them: "Our issue now actually is getting that content in front of more people"

The real issue is that products of equal or better quality exist for free. And Todd knows that. This isn’t about getting people to pay for it, it’s about the best way to kill the alternative without admitting that’s the real goal.

Expect future Bethesda games to be significantly less modder friendly.

Yeah, but either they use a different engine, which would be expensive, or they use Creation, and still need mods to fix decades old bugs.

And Bethesda sucks on technical level. With it being under Microslop, I would expect even worse products.

Without mods their bug ridden games won’t be playable for many months after release.
The only thing wrong with our product is that no one wants it! Clearly, the customers are wrong!
Oh no! Todd, if you put the world’s smallest violin for sale as DLC I would absolutely have to pick such a mod up. And I would. I would pick such a mod up for free on the internet. And it will be smaller and less full of bugs than the one you put up for sale. And I still wouldn’t play it for you because fuck you, that’s why.
They’re going to put free mods behind a subscription service next.
