@ShaulaEvans Yes, I can concur. Although it takes time and plenty of support. I'm slowly getting back on top of things, and it's been 10 years since I managed to get out.
I would also like to highlight that abusive doesn't always refer to physical abuse, and the victim in the relationship isn't always female (not that you said that, but a lot of people believe this to be the case)..

Thank you for making that point. One of the friends I was thinking of was a guy, and many of the abusive relationships I've witnessed included emotional and psychological abuse, whether they were physically abusive or not. It's all devastating.
