The war in Iran is going so well that during a press conference asking Congress to approve $200 billion in additional funding for Epic Fury, Hegseth is blaming Biden and Ukraine because his Department of War is running out of munitions.

Here is the clear-eyed truth:
1/7

In late February 2026, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen Dan Caine advised President Trump and senior officials, including Hegseth, that initiating a full-scale military action against Iran carried substantial risks and expressed significant caution.

These concerns included the strong possibility of entanglement in a prolonged conflict, high American casualties, ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€, limited allied support, and the challenges associated with allied refusal of base access for offensive operations.

In addition, other senior officials, such as VP Vance and SecState Rubio, expressed skepticism and reluctance to enter into what could be another prolonged conflict in the Middle East.

And here is the inconvenient truth Hegseth wants to gaslight his way past. Congress passed five major supplemental appropriations acts for Ukraine between FY2022 and FY2024, totaling approximately $174 billion in emergency funding.
4/7

The majority of that, consistently above 60%, went directly to DoD-related activities with explicit provisions for munitions stock replenishment.

The Department of War had four appropriations cycles and billions in designated replenishment funding to rebuild its stockpiles. It did not.

That is not Ukraine's problem. That is not Biden's problem.
5/7

That is a DoD procurement and readiness failure that predates Epic Fury by years and sits entirely within the chain of command that is now asking Congress for $200 billion more.

Bottom line: Gen Caine's caution, shared by other senior officials, was documented in February. The munitions shortage was predictable in February. Biden was not in office in February.

The money for restocking munitions had been there for years. The warnings were on record, but the decision was made anyway.
6/7

This is what accountability looks like when you can't see any.
