Can someone explain this Patreon review? Like, presumably it's not a deliberate AI-generated fake review since AI would have done a much better job

It looks like someone (or some bot) used a Markov generator to make some nonsense text and then pasted it in

But why? Was it a laziness? A mistake? Did Patreon pay them to do it? Who benefits from this?

@nicklockwood Looks to me like someone with limited English proficiency or using dictation (poorly) attempting to leave a review for a band on Patreon rather than the app. There’s been confusion around this before. Check the reviews for the Yelp app. Many of them are about restaurants.

@nicklockwood farming reputation for their army of fake accounts.

If this account *only* commented on apps they got paid to review, it would get detected faster.

So make all the fake accounts review random other apps, and then when they flood the page of a specific app, they stand out less.
