Piper voices on iOS have some interesting behavioral querks. Never before have I found a tts engine speak slower as you increase the rate beyond a certain point.
The prosessor load and battery drain are also huge. I don't think anyone would actually want to run this full time. At least not on the iPhone air, the thermal envelope just can't handle it.
I think with some optimizations this could be workable. Of course, it all depends on the models you use, but even medium quality ones are pushing it. High ones are a non-starter.

@fireborn Because of its battery drain, and seemingly broken menu to add voices from Files, I wonder if this was vibe coded? Also, what voice were you using on the device you were recording with. It sounds quite nice.
