Communities would have longer—up to 10 years—to protect valued local assets such as pubs, parks and libraries. Mayors would gain formal responsibility for culture and could appoint commissioners to support regional priorities. New Local Scrutiny Committees would increase oversight of mayoral decisions. Backed by funding, including £150m for high streets, the measures are intended to shift decision-making from #Westminster to local areas and support regeneration.
