I'm not really an expert in US politics, but I do wonder what kind of a feeling is evoked on learning the "USS Gerald R. Ford" is coming to relieve you. It must be a bit like hearing "HMS John Major" or "HMS Michael Gove" is on its way.

@chiffchaff HMS John Major might be OK, boringly grey and functional (so, a warship) but gets the job done and serves curry once you're on board.

@kwaktrap I suppose it depends on the kind of rescue. If it's coming with blankets and warm tea, I imagine iHMS John Major would be welcome. If it's more of a Relief of Maffeking type affair, I'd not be convinced! :-D
