Theoretically, if you were in a setting in which you agree to feel some pain (Doesn't matter the exact kind, just that it's 100% consensual and at a level you're OK with.) would you prefer to experience the pain created by a device that fools the brain into believing there is pain, or experience "real" pain, that is actually being felt by your pain receptors?
Both feelings would have the same intensity, occur in the same place, both would be physically harmless and safe. Feel free to comment and please boost.

Hmm. Interesting.
Well, guess it was kind of a dumb question.

@thomsotron since I've been thought that pain just exists in the brain, i think they are the same and it doesn't matter.

I assume the "real pain" will be more fun to get, but maybe the pain device is also fun so... Show me the pain device?

@5tern1 there are several different methods to create a sensation of pain apart from the usual kinds. For example, a cascade of warm and cool objects closely together in an alternating pattern (a so-called thermal grill) feels painful to the touch, even though neither the warmth nor the cold are painful on their own. People can be hypnotized into feeling pain as a response to a phonetic trigger (well, OK, that's not a technical device).
I guess the question of fun is more about the setting. Like, is the device easy to handle, who does administer the pain, is there an element of surprise, is there playfulness etc.
I was wondering if it made any difference to people if they were "fooled".
Reactions could be different, "Aww, that was no real pain? What a shame." or "Thank God it wasn't real!" or something else, depending on the meaning the feeling has in the situation...
@thomsotron there might be no injury, but the pain is very much real in all of this ways

@thomsotron the fun (or not fun) is absolutely more on context and situation than the trigger of the pain

Have you ever looked into white and black torture (hope it translates wird for word)? They have multiple ways of causing pain with and without leaving scars for not-consentual settings and turns out, these are fun at home between consenting adults

@5tern1 yep. Always fascinating how the setting changes everything...
