Palestine, Gaza 2026.

Don't stop talking about us in Gaza because our lives depend on you 🥲

@Rania

Rania, please tell us more about the situation now. I know the food prices got much worse when #Israel and the US attacked #Iran and #Lebanon, but are food prices still rising or are they starting to come down at all?

Is there much crime or violence within the camps, or are things reasonably calm?

How is your tent, and do many other people also have damaged tents?

@simon_brooke Prices are outrageous for everything. We're buying vegetables by the piece; for example, a kilo of tomatoes is now about $15. A kilo of feseekh (a type of dried fish) that we eat on Eid is now $30, when it used to cost $3. Clothes are extremely expensive.
@simon_brooke
Israel is allowing in a very small number of trucks... everything is many times more expensive.
@simon_brooke
The greatest tragedy of war is that after the war ends, we start thinking about how to live. We find everything is missing, and the suffering becomes in finding housing, in rebuilding, in food, in medicine, in clothing, in everything.
@simon_brooke Sometimes I feel ashamed when I ask for help. I keep asking for help because, unfortunately, there is no alternative. I have four children and a daughter in university.

@Rania You should not feel shame. You did not cause this war.

It is for us all -- but especially the #Israelis -- to feel shame, because we have not brought the criminals to justice.

@simon_brooke Your words give me hope for life... Israel is above the law... it does whatever it wants; it's America's spoiled child.

@Rania The world has a major problem with America. It has never been a virtuous actor, but now its abuse of power is blatant. The future of world peace -- which essentially means the future of the world -- depends on whether if can be brought under control.

I am not hopeful.

@simon_brooke
The good thing is that the European Union refuses to get involved in the war and rejects America's demands.
@simon_brooke
America began to feel that it was alone in this war.
@simon_brooke
The tragic irony is that Iranian missiles fell on Palestinians in Hebron, killing six, and then landed in an apartment in the UAE, killing one. Even Iran's missiles just won't leave us alone.
@simon_brooke
The tent is beyond repair, it's torn. I'm trying to buy a new tent today, but tomorrow there will be wind and rain.
@Rania I knew your tent was damaged, but how many more are? The pictures you (and other people) posted of the sandstorm looked pretty bad.
@simon_brooke Many tents were damaged by the storm; it was strong, with winds of 100 kilometers per hour. My problem is that my son is a child and cannot repair the tent, and my husband is wounded in the war. I am trying to do it myself.
@simon_brooke
When things get bad, I escape to my sister's room on the roof of the house; the place is very cramped and there's not enough room for us.
@simon_brooke
These are roughly the prices in Gaza. Tomorrow is Eid, and I'm trying to buy salted fish and clothes for my children, but the prices are very high. You can see in the news how high the prices of goods are in Gaza; everyone is complaining.
