> In Donald Trump’s first year as president, he signed 225 executive orders, whereas the Republican-controlled Congress passed only 49 new laws.

If he does everything through executive orders, it can all be discarded on day 1 of someone new being elected. These are pretty fragile changes, even if they are currently significant.

The argument for executive orders would be much weaker if Congress was more effective and could work together to find common ground and pass bills. It’s become so polarized they can no longer do their job. The Daylight Saving Time one should have been a slam dunk, but yet another time change has come and gone.
