@WizardOfDocs Some of the fiber optic cables going into the NASDAQ stock exchange loop around many times, so that major brokerage servers on various blocks of the Manhattan financial district are the same number of light-nanoseconds away from the master trading computer. They started doing it because some of them were getting a very real, practical cheesy advantage.
