i'm genuinely angry about this because I think fragmented forums or subreddits are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than microblogging. but they're all dead and they're never coming back.
@dynomight I wish I knew why blogs and RSS fizzled out. “Google killed it all by killing one product” seems weak.
@marick I don't care what anyone says, blogs + RSS were THE WAY. I still use RSS for everything, though I feel like the day substack kills their RSS feeds must be coming...

There seems to be a bit of an upsurge in RSS readers. I’ve been migrating from the venerable NetNewsWire to the recent Current, whose UX is working for me (though it’s mobile-first, so keyboard control tends to lag behind).
