This is a reversible USB-A to reversible micro-usb cable.

Where is your god now.

@jonty ... On the USB-A does the middle just flop to the correct side? Is it like a floppy tongue??
@jonty I've had one of these. great shit
@k Great or shit? Do they actually work in a decent way and don't destory the sockets? /cc @jonty
@sebi @jonty they did work lol
@k Neat *notes that*
I use magnetic connectors on all my USB-C Devices that allow me the full rates of that connector up to 140W and Thunderbolt 2 (probably also 3, but i don't use that). Sadly my kind of connectors does not come with other usb connectors. I also haven't found a system that offers all usb-c functionality, but still has a other Adapters on offer. So i still have different adapters around for cheaper gadgets.Specially Custom Adapters are annoying.Like Watch Chargers :/
/cc @jonty

@sebi @k @jonty I used to use such things (on usb micro too) but

QUOTE: I am not saying that these cables do not exist or that they do not work as claimed however there is an inherent risk when using these cables and that will fall onto the reader to decide for themselves.

@schmerg @sebi @k @jonty static electricity is a myth, booo
@sebi @k @jonty isn't TB1/2 using MiniDP instead of USB-C?
@intru I _think_ usb-c display port is the downgrade default, but also TB2 has its own implementation for it imo. But i don't have a source for it and its just my believe. I have a ryzen cpu/agpu/nvidia gpu notebook from 2019 with usb-c display port and it did not work with a Dell USB-C Dock that does at least TB2 for Intel Notebook and also a different Lenovo TB2 dock gives me trouble with this notebook. A USB-C DP Adapter just works with that notebook.Testen without magnet things /cc @k @jonty
@jonty Hot new item: USB connector with integrated prayer wheel, so you can appease the gods with each attempted connection
@jonty I think that might be it
@jonty kind of like those micro usb cables that can be flipped around to function as a lightning cable
@jonty
On a scale of 1 to 10,
@jonty Looks very illegal
that looks like it'd break in 2 weeks
@jonty i have one of these lol
@jonty reversible type A cables are REALLY annoying and not fun to use
@jonty I would somehow still need 3 attempts to plug it in correctly
@jonty this is just the cable that comes with kobo formas,
@jonty you assume my god still lives given all this shit?

That USB-A plug doesn't look like it would make a very reliable contact but I'd be happy to be wrong.

I'd also be happy to have as few USB-A and micro-USB devices in my life as possible.

@jonty I had some cables like that! Unfortunately, the micro-B part was really fragile, I don’t know if it’s inherent to that design or if it was it’s specific implementation
@jonty no... why... :(
@jonty on the other side, this abonination clearly says "I'm USB 2.0 cable!" unlike USB-C cable: charge only? USB 2.0? USB 3.0? USB4? USB3.0 with DP Alt Mode? USB 3.0 with PD? TB3? TB4? TB5? Who knows! USB-C protocols are a mess
@jonty wait no not like that

@jonty i've used these cables

they generally work as advertised once

@jonty

"Back in the day, we wanted to make the cable cheap, we simply didn't have money to put a chip in."

Symmetry: "Am I a joke to you?"
