Father KnifeI understand when typos and slip ups happen, they happen. It's fine. But when you're in the fandom space of a work that's not in your culture/language and you don't actively work to understand what specific nuances mean or how to spell/pronounce names and terms, it's just disrespectful.
Am I saying you need to learn the entire language to enjoy a translated book? No. But if you're actively engaging with content around the work, you need to at least have some idea of what you're talking about.
On a similar note, making everything you see from a culture about that One Book you really like is not cool. It's not. Commenting shit like "Lan Wangji!" every time you see someone playing a guqin or "ok Hua Cheng" whenever you see calligraphy you think is messy is weird and cringe /derogatory
"___ didn't know whether to laugh or cry" isn't a Xie Lian/MXTX specific thing and seeing TGCF brought up every time someone sees it is weird ! It's a common phrase. You're gonna see it often when you branch out into other works. Don't be weird. Say "oh I recognize that" in your head and move on.
Have some decorum. You're a guest in the space, don't be rude. Do a little work, educate yourself a little, and you'll find you'll be able to enjoy the works even more because you have a greater understanding of the culture they come from.
