I have an irrational fear of APIs that require multiple requests to render a single screen (so Mastodon API, yeah). I always ask myself "what happens if this request fails" whenever I make a one. I consider every request almost a liability. A sequence of requests that depend on each other's results is the stuff of nightmares.
