@beka_valentine Oculus VR was a promising. Though many folks (including folks here) made fun of Meta trying to push VR via metaverse.

When meta shut down metaverse, they also shut down the Oculus VR side of things too. This is why I hate how folks were laughing at metaverse shutting down. Of course it was shutting down to make way for AI crap too.

I'm not sure it's fair to blame people making fun of something made by Facebook for it getting shut down. Zuck and co has never given 2 shits how anyone feels about their products, especially not people on Mastodon.

Oculus wasn't there's, it would have been shut down or reworked to the point of being unrecognizable regardless of how anyone felt about it or Metaverse.
