MFW i start tracking my kitchenette boiler electricity usage and it pulls 2 kW
@ShadowJonathan Is that what it's rated for? (I have a 1.5 kW one and I'm somewhat scared of the future electric bill.)
@lukyan @ShadowJonathan eh, you only run it for a couple of minutes per day. And having a lower powered one will just run for longer. If it makes a noticeable impact on your bill I’d be more worried about water poisoning from all the tea you’re drinking.
@h5e @ShadowJonathan Oh, so it's an electric kettle, I trust these. The first "boiler" I think of is a water heater for my whole apartment so I think as if kitchens more usually had these than devices for boiling water for drinks.

@lukyan @ShadowJonathan oooh right, no I was mistaken I think!

I think Jo has a small (10L or so) boiler in the kitchen. Those are relatively costly indeed but offer a lot of comfort. And are an easy install if there isn’t a hot water line nearby.

@h5e @ShadowJonathan These are very comfortable, I'd need much more water for washing hands or dishes with a tankless one (which are more common here).

@lukyan @h5e yeah sometimes i wish that as well

but to quickly rinse something in hot water, its really good, especially when every tap in the rest of the house takes a minute to have hot water running
