Next month USPS introduces paid tracking access (paid per delivery/request) for 3rd party apps like Parcel.

What does it mean for you if you are tracking USPS deliveries in Parcel?

If you are a subscriber, you should be able to track 3-5 deliveries per month with real-time updates.

However, if you track more than that or if you are a free (or legacy premium) user, USPS deliveries will be severely delayed for you.

More details will be available next month. USPS info:

@parcel will there be a higher paid tier for comparable service to what we have today for paid accounts or is this a hard limit by USPS?
@clint015 Not sure yet, it is a new, developing situation :)
@parcel Any way we can pay a higher amount to help offset this?
@robini71 Not sure yet, it is a new, developing situation :)
@parcel Thanks for posting that update here.
@parcel Are the updates delayed or the deliveries?
@parcel Be sure to find a way to keep yourself in the black. If I end up pushing the limits, I can afford to pay a little more for your excellent app! πŸ‘πŸ»
@parcel Ugh. Stupid USPS!!!

@parcel I'm a subscriber but I don't use USPS at all (I don't live in the US and rarely ever ship anything from there).

Is there a concern that other operators may introduce similar charges?

@parcel Actually, how do I know if I am a subscriber or a legacy Premium user?
@parcel I assume i'm a subscriber and not a legacy premium user though it's hard to tell within the app itself. Hopefully more hints about that will materialize within the app also as time goes on. Thanks for all you do.
@parcel Have they given you any information on cost? That release just says there will be a fee, not how much the fee will be?
@parcel For another data point, I’m willing to pay a higher tier subscription to offset API costs. Your business financials have to work out, and as long as you’re clear what the higher plan goes to, there would be no issue paying in my family. Parcel is an essential app we all use and enjoy daily.

@parcel Hate to see it, but it's understandable that USPS would start charging for API access. The IT infrastructure behind it probably isn't cheap and likely gets queried millions of times a day.

Like others, I'm willing to move to a higher tier in order to make Parcel work out for you financially.

@parcel is there anyway to pay for a higher subscription tier to receive more than 3-5 deliveries per month from USPS? Or is the only solution to pay USPS?
@parcel Thank you for the update!
@parcel Well, that sure sucks. Thanks for the heads up.
