I thought getting banned for this reason is why .ml hates .world though?

Goat is now even defending Jordan, they’re both ZioNazis. (And I’m saying this because Goat thinks Zionist is a slur made up by KKK members.)

Ah, more lies Eugene? This is what, your fifth alt now? please touch just one blade of grass

Where am I defending Jordan? I also don’t think zionist is a slur, but the zio- perjorative is.

The Zio- pejorative has direct origins to David Duke, the Grand Wizard of the KKK, which he uses as a dogwhistle to describe Jews and the zog conspiracy.

The latest chapter in the Chicago Dyke March controversy unfolded late last week after the group walked back its use of the term “Zio,” a pejorative brought into prominence by former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke and often deployed by white supremacists.

Antisemites use “zio” as a dog-whistle. They hide their antisemitism in antizionism.

How Chicago Dyke March Used ’Zio’ — David Duke’s Favorite Jibe

The latest chapter in the Chicago Dyke March controversy unfolded late last week after the group walked back its use of the term “Zio,” a pejorative brought into prominence by former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke and often deployed by white supremacists. The Forward

There’s been some developments since 2017 that has since broken the mold on how control over language and the application of antisemitism is used.

Zionism is, both in public discourse and overwhelmingly so on the Fediverse, now meaningfully distinct from Judaism and antisemitic accusations. People using ‘zionist’ in any context prior to a couple years ago was automatically qualified as antisemitic and a political extremist in most spaces. That’s just not the case anymore. Hasbara has eroded itself.

So with the amount of time and energy people put into coming up with fresh new portmanteau pejoratives, that context should probably land closer to it not being a KKK dogwhistle on Lemmy.

I know you don’t see Lemmy or the fediverse as antisemitic, but it is rife with it.

I’ve heard of the reclaiming meaning before, but you’re not reclaiming anything when you say that zio- is a legitimate, neutral pejorative for zionism. Zio- is predominantly used by white supremacists as code to refer to Jews. You’re not subverting or reclaiming anything, or shaping the language, because you’re still using it for its intended purpose, which is to refer to Jews. You’re just reinforcing it.

Even more so, it’s so easy to just say “zionist” or not even use the zio- pejorative at all. It’s a single letter, and yet many are unable to change that, because they’re antisemitic, as you can see in the link. Personally, I would never want to reclaim language that originates in white supremacy, because there’s nothing to reclaim, and it gives credence to white supremacists.

I’m sure you also recall when users of mine used the word “degenerate,” and those users made the same arguments as you are now, that the meaning has changed. If we can’t use degenerate, we certainly cannot use the zio- pejorative.

Lemmy

It is easier to say Zionist. But people put effort into writing out Repubelicans and AmeriKKKa and all that, so I don’t get too bent out over what some user says on that level.

I’m sure you also recall when users of mine used the word “degenerate,”

This is such a weird sentence I don’t really know what to make of it, and no, not really.

Though even without recollection I alresdy can note ‘degenerate’ seems pretty specific and unnatural to get pulled out at random than ‘zionist’ getting merged with ‘nazi’ and such, especially in political internet debate perving.

So you agree that users should use zionist instead of zio-?
If only in that it may quell those users of yours from doing hasbara on some poor commiecumdumpster69, sure.
