Had to go see a doctor and as usual, nowadays, it fills me with despair. My GP was so kind to wear a "mask", if a baggy blue even qualifies as one. She is a tiny person, so the "mask" looked huge on her face, left huge gaps as well. After i left her office i could hear her cough. Then an assistant "needed" to explain a home test to me, even though it comes with clear instructions. She forgot to put on a "mask", oops, which probably contaminated the test.

Humanity is doomed.

#PandemicIsNotOver

It's as is they never even heard about aerosols!? In a medical facility?!

Medical doctors are supposed to be our brightest and smartest, no? Yet they behave as if an ongoing pandemic is not even a thing.

Next time she wears a baggy blue on me, i'll tell her to please not take me for a fool. When i, an immunocompromised person, go see a doctor, which makes me nervous as is, the last thing i need is hygiene theatre.

#LongCOVID

With every experience like this i am more convinced that medicine as a whole is stuck in a form of collective denial in regards to aerosol transmissions. Because if they weren't, they would need to change large parts of their common practices, remodel their facilities etc. That would cost a ton of money. Which is why they prefer to continue with their hygiene theater. It's pathetic.

Just consider the concept of a waiting room where the people share their illnesses without wearing masks. How?

@antiaall3s I blame the infectious disease docs for cleaving to outdated and disproven theories based on studies done in the 1890s and early 1900s. There’s a study from the 1930s that has long been interpreted incorrectly to show that most diseases are transmitted by droplets, this despite many studies showing otherwise. I also blame public health who turned PPE into theatre. Between those groups we ended up where we are. And then the politicians and the powerful pushed for β€œnormal”
@RandomCanuck πŸ’― this! The repercussions would be enormous if they accepted aersol transmission. So they prefer to stick their head in the sand about it.
crocheted artwork by Patricia Waller comes to mind... @antiaall3s @RandomCanuck
@antiaall3s There’s a special circle of hell made just for them.
@antiaall3s I had someone call my from the doctor's office, trying to get me to come in for some routine tests I should probably go have done... and I asked him if he's wearing a mask. He assured me he puts one on when he can see someone is sick near him, and I'm like, dude, you know that many things, including covid, spread before people have visible symptoms, right?

He's not the only one I've had that sort of conversation with. I encountered one nurse who had her mask around her wrist when I was checking in for covid boosters. And like, while I was there a guy came in with his family asking about covid
tests and he was coughing and stuff. But the mask didn't move from the nurse's wrist even then.

Like, I'm not sure if just surviving the first wave of Covid just numbed them to the point where they can't even think about it anymore otherwise they just can't do
anything anymore, or what, but there really is a straight up negligence level of no fucks about such a small thing that could be done to make everyone safer.

@deathkitten I remember an interview on TV with one of the leading epidemiologist and public health specialist in Switzerland, it was very early on in the pandemic, where he said: Thank god that the COVID virus is not distributed via aerosols, because that would have huge consequences and engender great costs.

Well, it is. And he never recanted that statement, nor did public health change their tune. It's a huge scandal. But no one seems to care.

@antiaall3s admitting that it's spread by aerosols would require a lot of costly upgrades to things like HVAC systems and drastic reworking of business models in restaurants and stuff like that, and we can't risk the profit margins of the billionaires like that. So we can't admit that's what's going on.

So instead the rest of us are just expected to sacrifice our literal health to maintain those profits. No big, right? We don't matter.

@deathkitten The system we are forced to live under is a death cult.
