BananaOnionJuiceI’m in the “both” camp I like the cinematography of the 2021 edition, and Hans Zimmer really did a great score they make it look and sound futuristic and cool, but you need to read the book first as they skip a lot of the plot.
But the 1984 edition is still good, sometimes I start humming the main score and then I know it’s time for a rewatch.
I like the 1984 up to about 2/3 of it. After that it feels rushed and gets pretty confusing. I also really dislike the shield generator effects.
MinnesotaGoddami liked the ornithopters. i really need to reread the book (i was not the most lucid when i was reading it in the 90s and do not remember much)
I read it a few years ago and to me it was a difficult read. Not that I didn’t like it but in my mind it didn’t resemble the movie very much.
