what are some good EU-based SMTP relay providers (I guess kids these days call them transactional email services)?

don't need fancy features (campaigns, blah). Definitely not Mailjet.

scaleway looks tempting for no flat fee, just pricing per 1k emails, with really cheap prices compared to everybody else. Is their shared IP pool decent, reputation-wise?

I also saw Lettermint, who seem cool …

explain to me why it's Tuesday night and I'm reviewing email providers, what is this misery
tell me why
ain't nothing but an email
tell me why
ain't nothing but a misery
tell me why
i always wanna hear you say
fuck smtp
I really want to find a reason to use Lettermint, but pricing-wise, Scaleway wins out so hard it's not even a competition.

@rixx

[something, something]
compose mail body, yee-eah.
send that body, yee-eah,
sendmail 's back, alright!

@rixx You're either running an event or a social network, possibly both

@jonty Even worse, I'm running software for people who run events, and am just about done with maintaining the email servers.

I'm already farming out emails to Microsoft and friends to a free Mailjet tier, because I gave up on keeping up with their stupid spam detection that I had to reset every 14 days (so, yeah, checking NS records before every email sending to see if I have to route around that; so many universities are on O365 …)

@jonty atrocities
@rixx Please tell me you changed your font just for this post

@jonty I switched to this font over a year ago for a joke post and then never bothered to switch back

honestly sometimes think it's easier to stay focused on code with that for me sometimes, because maybe it keeps my squirrel brain busy

I even opened fontforge once with the intent to improve some characters, but I managed to stop in time
