I was going to switch to #Proton’s email and calendar services but they don’t integrate with native iOS apps. I understand why but I really need this, especially the calendar. Is there a #privacy-oriented service that does this?

@flup fastmail? They have a 30 day trial so you can test.

How the iOS calendar is designed it only really works with Google, Microsoft offerings.

Not to mention with encrypted email providers you won’t be able to because that would mean compromising the encryption.

@justincrozer thanks! iOS calendar supports caldav so in principle should be able to do other providers… but I don’t know the limitations of that.

@flup usually server side changes so encrypted email providers aren’t possible so they have their own apps as you found out.

I don’t understand the technical details on why the encrypted email providers don’t work with it but it’s how the encryption protocol is if I’m not mistaken but everything that isn’t end to end is always encrypted in transit and at rest (you’d hope) so fastmail should be able to be set up like iCloud mail and calendar would normally work for iCloud.com addresses.

@flup this should get you started even with manual set up it has support you’re after https://www.fastmail.help/hc/en-us/articles/360058752914-Set-up-iOS-devices-manually#setupguide
