taiyangI hope this comment doesn’t age well, but I’m betting Windows 12 will remove the start menu entirely and replace it with a copilot prompt box that opens applications by text or voice activation. There are no alternatives and not updating is not an option.
That’s their actual goal. Subscription-based, with an insane, seizure-inducing, amount of ads.
And it’s coming sooner than you think.
All I hope personally is that MacOS doesn’t follow. But given the recent enshitification of all the Mac OSes from the last updates…
The irony is I’m pretty sure Windows started getting dumber as it copied MacOS when it gained popularity, removing file extensions, making file systems harder to navigate, spending lots of resources on GUI effects, etc. I mean 11 even centered the start menu, c’mon!
