We submitted to the Metroidvania Month Jam this time around because of the crossover with Magical Girl Jam. It's our first time making a game like this.

We received our first comments about Coolfrog and the other characters I made and wrote, I'm actually so happy about that ​ I noticed that usually the people who comment on the characters are the ones who have beaten the game. Which makes sense since they're the ones who saw most of the writing.

About beating the game...honestly I was surprised to get a singular "the boss is so easy" comment, most people trying out games even in gamejams are quick to complain about difficulty. We learned that on our first one where uhhh it's like people didn't understand a boss fight is supposed to be difficult? Even though our whole first gamejam thing was just about mob waves then boss fight? Like yall want nothing or what?? But this time around we had to nerf the boss fight intentionally for technical reasons and the amount of bullets was way less than planned. Well anyway as I do this more I'm going to have to stand my ground on saying that difficult things are difficult on purpose, especially as a fan of difficult games.
@kuchaibee i kind of gave up trying to reach the boss platform because I couldn't see how to time my jumps sorry . .. . but otherwise i wish this would have been longer
@hannah Oh, I'm sorry about it not being accessible like that ​​ And yeah, it's a short game...we wanted something to be polished, like have a clear ending at the very least even if it was super short. ​
@kuchaibee i always fell a bit short of it and it drove me a bit mad but i mean I'm not exactly a platforming pro lmao and i only tried for like 10 min so

i think it would be interesting if there was a way to put out a mid-air bomb to get a third jump like in celeste with the crystals, and that being an alternative strat for those jumps that seem almost possible with double jump you know? a bit like a p-switch jump in mario maker
@hannah Interesting that you mentioned that loop of doing an attack chaining into an extra jump, that's actually something we accidentally implemented midway but removed because it felt too hacky and weird for a metroidvania, especially since the map was sooo small so the level design would have to be redone. The concept always felt kind of banger though so now I'm making a mental note that someone other than me thought it was awesome ✍
