We're about to uproot (again!!) and go back to Idaho because of a dementia diagnosis on my wife's mom.

I have noticed that Starlink is advertising residential intarwebs access for $50/month. If one of you tooters uses Elmo's service, could you share your experience, please? Don't hold back. Gimme goods and bads.

Hi @AG7GM I've been completely happy with starlink for 4 years now. Completely satisfied. Not only great performance, but yay not the cable company, and not at&t

Sorry to hear about your wife's mom.

@gojimmypi Hey Jim! How the heck are ya? Thanks for the Starlink info and for your kindness.
@AG7GM Hi Dan! All good here. Been working with Autodesk Fusion a lot, more than expected. Soon I'll be releasing my ULX3S enclosure for the 7 inch HDMI display. How's everything going with you?

@gojimmypi Niiice! The enclosure looks nice!

I'm doing well. We're getting ready to move and retire kinda fer real.

@AG7GM Thanks! Glad you are doing well !

Hey, so on the pros and cons of Starlink, some things to keep in mind: works best with a wide, clear view of the sky. Upload speeds are a small fraction of download speeds. Although there's an optional heater - keep in mind any snow that might accumulate on antenna. Otherwise it's been quite reliable. Best part is I don't have to deal with the cable or phone company ever again! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

@gojimmypi Thank you for that! I look forward to not relying on the phone/cable folk, but I'll need to look at latency times. Not that it's crucial for me, but I have been known to play FPSs. :)

BTW, I've worked in TV for a few decades and with satellite dishes, the engies would cover them and put an energized lightbulb between the dish and cover. Simple and cheap.

@AG7GM latency is completely acceptable to me, but also not a FPS'er (BG3 these days). That said, it's typically reported 25 - 28 ms, with the app claiming a median of 21. Live video conferences work well. You might appreciate the technology of phased array antenna and auto positioning.
@gojimmypi Yeah! Sounds nice, Jimmy. I appreciate it very much. Thanks!
