I am thinking of creating a new email address for professional use. So I am now in the lookout for a new email provider that will work for professional use and is also reasonably private.

I definitely would like IMAP support for the provider since I would rather not install another app just for this.

It would be preferable if this option was free, but I don't mind if it has simply a low cost either. I don't need a lot of storage or anything.

Any recommendations?

Definitely try out @Tutanota. Better than Proton in terms of the privacy that you're looking for.
@kq Hey! Thanks for recommending us. If you have any questions about Tuta Mail or Tuta Calendar, do ask. We are happy to help. 😊

A while back, I heard tutanota doesn't support imap or smtp, has that changed recently? If so, I'll be more than happy to give tuta a shot given the stellar reputation
@enthusiast101 Proton is the only other private option out there, but you have to move to a paid plan in order to activate IMAP/SMTP. @Tutanota doesn't support that but if you move to a paid option, it's better than the Proton paid option in terms of privacy.

Ah ok, then I think I'll wait for some other options. I don't really need full e2e privacy since I'll be using this as my professional email. So I will mostly be using it with people who won't be encrypting things on their end. As long as the email service doesn't monetize the email data, I am fine with it.

I do have a proton email I got with the VPN, but I'll need to pay 5 extra bucks a month to get a new email alias I can use professionally.

@enthusiast101 you already have a proton account? Then that's fine, stick with that and buy the alias too. It's just that they easily let out payment information when they are asked by an authority 🫢
