Honestly my editor stack is looking more like it’ll be just emacs every day… I really truly loved JetBrains for years and the money is NOT the issue… they just can’t ship a stable IDE that has anything resembling sane resource limits for like 2 years running. And all the paper cuts I was too lazy to fix in my emacs config for years can now be solved in a few minutes with an LLM.

@ianthetechie I'm using IDEs less and less. I never got into emacs or vim originally.

My main editor has been Zed, and I don't use any of the fancy features. I use the file explorer, the file viewer, and the terminal.

I've only in the past 2 years started to use neovim.

@raiderrobert yeah it seems to be a trend. Honestly that’s sad to me in some ways cuz I really believe JetBrains became a unicorn by making great software but the consistent pattern the past few years is towards bloat and just generally not caring about what used to make them great.

At first I thought it was because they were putting all their effort into “AI” tooling. But even that is mediocre.

@raiderrobert I used to be an emacs user going back like 15 years and then one day I was like I don’t have time for this… well… honestly it’s coming back full circle 😂
