This year marks the 20th anniversary of my work on JRuby! I'm looking forward to sharing that story and talking about the future with folks around the world. Being able to speak at @RubyConf and @RailsWorld would be a fitting way to celebrate 20 years. I hope I'm accepted. 🀞

@headius Man, what a journey! I’m not in tune with Ruby or JRuby but I remember reading, about 10 or so years ago, all that the JVM brought to the language and ecosystem and was blown away.

Congratulations! πŸ₯‚

@headius congrats, charlie! the ruby world is much better off for your contributions and few people stick with an effort as long as you have to make this kind of impact.

it’s crazy to think about the thread from your rubyconf 2006 demo to sitting in our war room at drw helping us with perf issues … til now!

thanks for everything you do. ❀️

@deobald It has been an interesting ride and an incredibly diverse array of software challenges. Maybe I'll write a book about it someday. Thank you!

@headius I remember meeting you at RubyConf 2006 in Denver.

You have made a very important contribution to the computing landscape with JRuby.

@dpp Thank you sir! Here's to another 20 years of making the impossible possible.
@headius hey Charles! Congratulations! I wanted to ask you if Ruboto is still the way to go for JRuby Android apps, i saw that you said that you have a patch somewhere for the current version. I'll try to put some time into getting something working and look around this week.
@andi It is still the way! However I am not an Android developer and have not had free cycles to try to get things cleaned up and released. You want to look at the repository called jruby9kpoc I believe, and If I remember right I think there's a branch there that patches a few things and gets it working with modern j Ruby. You should join the jruby matrix channel and I can help guide you
