At least in the german IT sphere i heard “Kein Backup, keine Gnade”/“No Backup, no pity” relativly often.
To make sure that people understand that data loss is preventable and if they fail to secure their data its their fault.

Even tho that sentence got ingrained, actual practices not…
So i dont follow the 3-2-1 gold standart but just use one external drive where i copy files manually to…

Really hope you can find some decent setup :D

Yeah, this is totally on me lol. There were a bunch of ways I could have prevented this (Regular Backups, Backing Up Everything before messing around with a Live USB, etc). I guess it’s one of those lessons I had to learn the hard way. I’ve got a setup now where I have my desktop backup my Home Directory to a SSD with Pika Backup, and I’ve got a Enclosure for a HDD on the way too just to be safe
One thing that Mario Kart DS has that didn’t carry forward to other games is mission mode. Definitely worth a look.
I meant to mess with that but was so drained by the end of the cup and from saving my desktop, that I went “Okay, I think I’m done for now”. I’ve heard good things about it though

Oh boy! I love that adrenaline rush you get after executing a command and it takes a really long time that it makes you wonder “did I just delete something important?”. Not many other things can give you that tingly feeling. Glad you found a way to recover your stuff.

I’m gonna go install some backups today…

It’s definitely exciting. I probably sound like a dork but some of the most fun I’ve had with Linux itself has been debugging it when something goes wrong
This was my favorite Mario Kart to play multiplayer
i loved this game. i always played as peach, then found out later that shes considered the worst character in the game by far, possibly even the whole series
Is she? I always assumed she was close-ish to Toad stats wise. Then again, I don’t know how toad performs so I guess I can’t use that to measure
