The good thing about non-seethrough cases is that all the sins are hidden from the prying eyes.
@ftg Actually not the stuffening, but the PSU that I made from LM317 and LM337 is much quieter than my supposedly "lab" bench supply. When I was working on the PLL I was seeing so much sideband noise that I couldn't tune away by tweaking the filter that I became suspicious, the bench supply was putting narrow positive pulses onto its DC output at the same rate as its display refresh. Maybe it needs to have some capacitors changed or something. It had me chasing my tail with the loop filter for a while.
