The FRAM mod for the #SegaSaturn is possibly unnecessary, but I was bored and reached a decent pause point on maug and nothing else was doing it for me.

Fortunately there was no epoxy under the SRAM in this VA7 Saturn, but I *really* underestimated how fragile those pads were without a heat gun! Fortunately I was able to bodge the legs for the torn pads to the associated vias.

Looks gnarly, but passes the continuity tests and the "save/load a SimCity2k city" test...

@indigoparadox looks good to me! Do you have any tips for stripping enamelled wire?
@gloriouscow As a basic technique, I hold the enamel wire to the iron tip for a bit to warm it up and then stick the pair into the solder wire to make a nice roseny blob around the end of the enamel wire/iron tip pair and then rub the tip of the enamel wire inside the blob under the iron tip until it starts sticking... now as for tips, it's kinda by intuition and I've gotten better as I've done it but... It's totally vibes based and some times work better than others, sorry. 😩
@indigoparadox No that's fine, a lot of it is all about intuition. I like using enameled wire because it's pretty and looks more professional, but my tripping technique so far has been rolling it around and scraping the end with an x-acto and it takes forever.
@gloriouscow Oh boy. When I first used it many years ago I would burn the end off with a lighter but apparently that hurts the structural integrity. The solder-blob-melting method doesn't take *too* long and it seems to make for pretty strong joints. My portable Wii is full of it and still ticking! 😌
