I feel like various websites have gotten markedly worse over the past 2 months.

Like over the weekend, I was trying to buy something from Ikea, and I was finding like 15 second wait times in trying to nav the site.

And I'm not picking on Ikea specifically, because every site I've been engaging with feels for w/e reason a little extra glitchy.

I know these are vibes, not facts.

The challenge is whenever I start to try to pin down exactly what feels off.

It's no longer there when I get back to it.

It feels like I'm being actively gaslit.

So this is mostly just me being like, am I actually the only one feeling this way?

Wondering if this is a CloudFlare thing. They haven't properly recovered from their outages in the early winter, IMO.
@raiderrobert
You're competing with all the LLM agent crawlers trawling everything over and over and over again.
I mean yes obviously. But that's not new to the past few months.

@raiderrobert nothing comes to mind. Any more specifics / examples?

I mean… GitHub is absolute 💩 these days since they seem to be vibe rewriting the whole thing in React and making literally everything else… but beyond that I haven’t really noticed anything.

@ianthetechie LinkedIn on the web was super slow over the weekend. I looked into the console, and it was spamming itself trying to talk to Chrome plugin for recruiters apparently. So that was explainable in a very weird sense.

Yes, GitHub has felt worse. So has Slack. So has Jira.

@raiderrobert I don’t use Jira and don’t use Slack as a web app. Or even enough to notice. Unsurprised about LinkedIn though. Their problems go back YEARS. I remember for like 2 years straight I had to force quit the app at conferences cuz my phone would overheat if I left it “running.” This is on iOS mind you, which has much stricter limits than Android. So it was BAD. It’s only barely improved since.

@raiderrobert not just you. It’s felt this way the past 2 or 3 years, and has seemingly ramped up since the start of the year on big sites, specifically (e)commerce sites. I’m noticing way more blocking cookie banners, dick bars, captchas, unresponsive navigation, page reloading triggered by the site itself, and layout jumping around.

I partially attribute it to my network based adblocker, as well as extension based adblockers, where sites have to try harder to extract value from me, but still
