I've finished reading "There is no Antimemetics Division" by qntm today and this was insanely good! Dark, creepy, weird and I found out that this is based on the SCP Foundation wiki full of creepy creatures and concepts people invented for funsies (and where the author himself is an active member). Basically modern lovecraftian monsters combined with "Men in Black". Definitely nightmare fuel when you have an active imagination!

The novel itself has some flaws in the storytelling, it's a bit all over the place for me and I didn't really like the third part as much as the other two, but damn, this will live rent-free in my head for quite a while, so I gave it 5 stars. #books #bookstodon

@chaotin there is also a webseries of this on youtube!

@chaotin I have been trying so long to get one of my friends to read this. I liked it so much! And yeah, the third part was a bit strange compared to the rest.

But the whole idea of trying to fight something like that is awesome.

I have read a few other books by qntm and enjoyed them all. I think my favourite so far is Ra!

@leaf I was convinced it was a collection of loosely connected short stories at first, but the third part showed otherwise and it was... yeah... would have been better if it was its own novel, the first 2 parts are AMAZING!

Definitely gonna keep an eye on the author now *puts Ra on the list*

@chaotin Horror's not really my jam when it comes to books, but your reviews make this book sound interesting as hell. Definitely gonna put it on my list to check out!
@SynAck If it helps, Horror isn’t really my jam either, but I like Lovecraftian stuff for some reason and this just hit the right spot for me
It’s also quite short with only like 250 pages
