i used to play dark ages way back when. what a nostalgia trip this video (and the follow up linked in the description) was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIFty-O4rOE
I Spent 30 Days in a Dead MMO (and it was amazing)

@eniko yes those were absolutely lovely watches ☺️
@eniko I actually picked it up for a couple months because of this video. Very quirky experience!

@springogeek the social systems were very very cool

what was it like playing it in the modern day? XD i can't even imagine

@eniko the social systems were neat, very interesting stuff built into character progression for Monks, for example.

But I also found it to be buggy and unintuitive at times. A lot of stuff was just unexplained, so you'd arrive in the world and just feel a bit lost. there's some external learning resources, felt like stepping back to the late 90s web to find them.

I wish I had more energy and time to put into it though, as it was definitely a unique experience.

@eniko if you can remember your username, you might find your account is still there :)
@springogeek i can remember my username, but sadly not my password :( and the email attached to the account is long dead
@eniko that is unfortunate :( ah well
@springogeek its for the best, i dont really have the time to sink into a game like that
@eniko That's entirely fair. it's definitely designed as a steep and continuous grind. Like, all the abilities/spells/skills are individually leveled up by usage, not just scaling to your character level. At low levels, they have a strong tendency to /fail/ too, which is a real feel-bad experience.

@eniko
I never did play.. Was busy with MUDs at the time, both playing & coding & doing admin stuff 😅

Very tempted to try it out now(ish). Not with ambitions to max out the character, but more to experience the environment, community & game systems.

It will probably have to wait until after we're done re-roofing the house.. Because uh that seems to take a lot of time and focus right now, and it's still a month and a half away!

@eniko I saw that a little while back. I never heard of the game and yet I still almost felt nostalgic and kind of wanted to play it, lol. (Mostly it was the stuff about the end game content that ultimately made me decide not to.)
