@delric @daringfireball you misunderstand my comments. The article says Apple is wise to sit out from AI investment and to just partner with Google for a fraction of the price. I am highlighting that parallel to the maps debacle where Google turned the screws and left Apple in a bad situation.
@nicholasmodesto @delric All of the key players at Apple who were there for the Google Maps → Apple Maps transition are still there, and still remember. So, (a) they're negotiating terms up front with that in mind, and (b) Google has competition in this space that they didn't have with Maps.
