Significantly rewrote my wikipedia article about the Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus this week (successor of the once-mighty Freiheit Gezang Farein) after being emailed some notes from people from the choir. On the one hand, yes there is still room for improvement, but on the other hand I've already written them a more detailed treatment than most modern Yiddish choirs have🤪

Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus - Wikipedia

I generally confine my wikipedia yiddish music activity to historical topics, so this one started as being about the Freiheit Gezang Farein, the once mighty Communist choir, but a while back I realized it still existed and it has gradually come to describe the present incarnation.

of course there are many current day yiddish artists who would deserve a wiki article, but life's too short for me to spend all my time doing that.

in a few cases if someone is very courteous asking me to fix it, or someone who has made a big effort to help me with other research things, I've put in work on their wiki bio... often it goes like this: artist sends me a facebook DM saying, hey can you significantly update my wikipedia bio with what I've been up to the last decade?! and I say, I guess, email me some magazine articles to work with and whatever else you think would be good. and they don't, so it goes nowhere.🤔
