Last day of work for a few days before we go to the #forest for a few days and sit in the dark. For Kielder #Starcamp, if you’re wondering, but it’s also just a generally appropriate reaction to all of this {gestures to the whole world right now} 😅

Seriously though, time in nature* is essential and part of us, and I’m looking forward to being away from the computer (*albeit Kielder is a managed forest, not fully wild, it’s still got ospreys and red squirrels and the darkest skies in England 🤩)

@LDJ have a lovely time! I'm counting the days until I can bugger off to Sweden for a week at the end of March. Work is pants and getting worse. CANNOT WAIT. 🤪
@LDJ Dream experience. We'd love to go but finances and food dictate otherwise Carole does all the cooking so it'd be nice to give her a break. One less stress factor.
It's the uncertainty of pain and energy that messes with plans though. Never knowing the state tomorrow will bring is a constant torture. I'm constantly cancelling plans because of it.
@FourQ Understandably difficult - it’s a shame we can’t bring the dark skies to you!
@LDJ But start shooting street lamps and suddenly you're the bad guy. I'm all seriousness though I'd just like somewhere close by and accessible with minimal lighting. The big flaw there is anywhere accessible has a large concentration of bright lights. Maybe I'll buy a 'cone of shame' and gaffer tape it until it's opaque.
@FourQ You’re dead right. We’re looking for a new house somewhere away from light pollution and anywhere suitable is well away from other houses, fairly rural. Light pollution map for the north east:
@LDJ Very nice. I doubt there are many places available at Falstone but it would make a hell of a place to live. I guess the perfect spot would be a farmhouse but hardly practical. Good luck with the hunting.
That map looks handy. I'm trying to work out where Earsdon is. Great dark road between there and Backworth. I used to think about parking the bike half way up the B1325 to Seaton Sluice but it's not exactly known for safe parking.
