It's a bit silly that the same people who are rightfully paranoid about corporations and governments holding databases of movement profiles, biometric data, sexual preferences etc. are the same people who voluntarily post Träwelling / #NowTravelling, "I just woke up" automated biometry, intimate details about their relationships and sex life, and tons of perfectly analysable selfies on Fedi.

Like, you provide your entire profile yourself. The fascist government's databases are built by you. Facial reverse image search engines connect everything to your entire life by connecting your cute Fedi selfies with the time you got into the local newspaper for participating in the maths olympiade. Your political views are obvious. Your loved ones, your kinks, your identity minutiae, a psychological profile including your triggers and how one would blackmail you to do what one wants, it's all public. Your self-hosted Fedi instance is instantly connected to your full legal name, address and so on.

But then you refuse to use Matrix because there was a zeroday a year ago.

@lianna

A single picture can and absolutely will be analyzed with every classification and location possibilities with the likely identity by multiple billionaire companies. They are fighting over control of their livestock, us.

Every picture we post is another shot they take and it is always hunting season.

@lianna voluntary is the keyword

@tastytea Yeah, but the resulting analysis is not voluntary.

In theory, one also voluntarily sends pictures to friends on Discord. It's not voluntary that they're then analysed by an AI or sent to the FBI.

@lianna in the case of discord, yes. when i use a ”smart“ car that is much less voluntary. or when i go to the supermarket and get recorded by countless surveillance cameras on the way and in the store. or when i buy a ticket for public transport.
@lianna huh that one being a deal breaker was new to me. I thought matrix was used less because of things like [1/2]
