The lack of regulation and consistency over police training is concerning. There should be a standardization of training along with psychological training, and culture/area specific guidelines. We set police up for failure when they are sent out with improper training. The public should not be fearful of the officers who are supposed to protect them but this warrior mentality frames suspects and communities as enemies and justifies execessive force. #so345
@botboink You make a very interesting point. I think that lack of funding is one of the main reasons for this inconsistency. It makes the relationships with police weak. People, with good reason, may not trust police in their area. This can lead to different behaviors on both ends, which can make things very dangerous.
@botboink I totally agree. There should be better regulation over both training and hiring practices. We should not allow people who see themselves as vigilantes or warriors to go out into a public that has many reasons to fear them. Better training is a major way to help prevent police brutality. #so345
