I finally got to watch the S02E02 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters "Resonance". I wasn't really impressed outside of some of the later minutes of the episode.

The one good thing about the episode were the events in the past which were genuinely oppressive. The problem though was that the better part of the episode were in the past and there's no way to generate tension in the past because the present characters are still alive.

The character Cate continues to be useless.

This episode is titled "Resonance", yet it did not resonate with me. I'm hoping this was just a fluke.

@mookie
Definitely a YMMV situation.

I find I am invested in the earlier story for its continuous revelations that are relevant to the present.

Others report that they really liked the Titan action scenes in this episode.

The EPs seem to be trying to balance the mystery box / investigation, Monarch/Apex skullduggery, character narratives and action-adventure to satisfy diverse audiences. My partner (who has no previous exposure to any Toho or Toho-licensed media) is enjoying it so I take it as successful in engaging new audiences.

Episode 3 is intensely character focused. I’ll be interested to hear what you think.

There’s also a graphic/comic book coming out this July with a series of stories about each of the main characters that sounds interesting in filling in the context.

Legendary Comics will be releasing a new 120 page graphic novel in mid July 2026. It’s an official release that promises to offer significant backstory on all of the M:LOM main characters. That said, it’s still possible to request to be a late backer for the Kickstarter campaign [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/legendarycomics/monarch-the-lost-adventures].
