Having Hera whisper almost all of her lines to Jason is… a choice.
Ah, the old ankle-dial trick
ah, RIP brains. we're gonna have to rely only on brawn from here on in
[ship-building montage continues]
Hercules won't leave without his boyfriend
"sin"
lol I do love it when milquetoast christian themes are crudely laid over Ancient Greek mythology
Score notes for percussion here just read "go nuts on xylophone"
Jason capturing the harpies before preparing wood with which to cage them
getting the sense Jason isn't a "planning" guy
"I know the sea god's moods. But… most of them are dangerous."
Okay that's tight, love that line
one of the more enjoyable "what the fuck is going on" scenes in recent memory
❌ Technology NOT unlocked: any interesting magical insta-healing plant
whoa, foot shot of the ram goddess
He said the thing!
They said the thing!
okay
oh I LOVE the hydra POV panning shot, so cool
YES THE CLAYMATION DOLL YEESSSSSS
RIP hydra you were the best part of the movie by far
The hydra fight gets me a two-in-one #MonsterdonBingo
"the children… of the niiiight" line delivered with the same drama as "it's a faaaaaake"
10 minutes is not a ton of time to wrap things up, here, but we seem to be fully under way to a sudden ending
Okay but they were introduced to a random plant that also has the power to heal before, I do feel obligated to point that out
[sowing of hydra's teeth continues]
time for the skeleton war
skellington said AAAAAAAA
I love the skellies so much they are my new favorite part of this movie
it's not like the VFX earlier in the movie weren't good but BY THE GODS the full power of Harryhausen et al. is something to behold
I now understand how this movie helped create an entire generation of VFX artists
This must have been such a thrill to see in 1963
👏💀👏💀👏💀👏💀👏💀👏
The beast!
The beast!
The beast from 20,000 fathoms!
Operation EXPERIMENT? lmfao
Not paying much attention to the movie so far, but I wonder if John Carpenter took inspiration from some of these aesthetics. Definitely some shades of THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD here
Anybody want some coffee?
We really haven't been getting enough coffee in #Monsterdon, maybe we need to watch more 50s fare!
I liked the banter about paleontology and dressing-down of a STEMlord. The world needs more of that
[smirking] "it's *my* monster"
Tom, you speak French but you started in English? You dickhead.
Wow, cool lighthouse crumbling interior VFX
the canyons of New York City
Pretty good compositing for 1953
A SECOND COFFEE HAS ENTERED THE MOVIE
Go ahead, unnamed beast. Destroy Wall St. Make the people happy.
"It'd take a 3-inch shell to penetrate that skull"
Yea, we've all worked with somebody like that before.
