It would be really cool if smartphone Linux got really good really fast

@netbat honestly it is, just in the year-18 months i've been using postmarketos they've been doing a hell of a lot, and linux on arm in general has got way better in just the past 5 years

the only issue is uh, the cellular part, because cell modems and networks are opaque in annoying ways

@rudi I guess my case is unique(?) because my dad has our entire family locked into the iOS ecosystem pretty much

@netbat oh yeah that's one place where it's Definitively Crap because of the high barrier of entry of apple having decent SoC-level security. but i'm wondering like, if the macbook neo is going to be a regular thing apple does with their overstock of iOS device chips, if people are going to do development on the neo and then try harder to try to bridge the gap of the locked-down OS-bootloader combo on older iphones with those SoCs knowing that it is possible to run it well.

or, like one of my mutuals said when i said things along these lines, "just buy a dev fused iphone that fell off a truck in china lol"
